Our Chiropractic Techniques
Over his many years in practice, Dr. Karas has developed a gentle, highly effective treatment approach to adjust his patients. Not using a lot of force, but gently coaxing the spinal segments to move is the key to not making a patient sore after an adjustment. No two people are alike and his skill set allows him to modify the treatment for each individual patient. Muscle stim. and hot packs are frequently used to relax patients’ muscles before an adjustment.
We address neck, mid and low back pain, pinched nerves, rotator cuff, carpal tunnel, herniated and bulging discs, sports injuries and more.
Diversified
After identifying which spinal bones have lost their normal motion or position, a gentle specific manual thrust is administered to free up “stuck” joints.
Spinal Decompression
Patients diagnosed with bulging, herniated and degenerative discs as well as spinal and foraminal stenosis (pinched nerve) may get relief from non-surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy.
Activator Methods®
Activator Methods is one of the most popular low force Chiropractic techniques in the world. It utilizes a hand held instrument that applies a low force high speed thrust to a spinal or extremity joint without the twisting motion often associated with a Chiropractic adjustment. It works well for patients who don’t want their neck or back “twisted” or have underlying issues that prohibit that type of treatment such as a previous neck surgery.
Graston & Gua Sha Techniques
Using these curved stainless steel instruments, we can successfully resolve adhesions and scar tissue, offering a pleasant sense of release.
Cox Flexion Distraction
Cox Flexion Distraction Technique is a form of spinal manipulation using a specially designed treatment table developed by Dr. James Cox. The flexion and distraction help relieve patient’s back pain and stiffness. It is used to treat a herniated or bulging disc, facet syndromes, sciatic and spinal stenosis.
Active Release
Athletic injuries and many muscle-related conditions respond quickly and permanently with this state-of-the-art soft tissue technique.
Ultra Sound Continuous
The ultra sound we use is much faster than what most people think of when they have an ultra sound done for diagnostic purposes. Our ultra sound causes the molecules in the cells to vibrate very fast causing a deep heat and friction type of massage. It penetrates right down to the bone and works well for rotator cuff, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel and numerous other joint and muscle issues.
Muscle Stim and Heat
Muscle stim. and heat are used before a Chiropractic adjustment to relax tight muscles and pump blood in and out of the area, relieving the soreness from lactic acid build up. Many patients have fallen asleep while this therapy is on because it’s so relaxing. The more relaxed the patient is, the easier they are to adjust.
Erchonia Adjustor
Dr. Karas continues his ongoing education, and has added another adjustment technique. We now provide the option of an adjusting tool called the Erchonia adjustor. This is similar to an activator.
If the patient is not comfortable with the twisting of their neck and lumbar spine with a manual adjustment, we provide the option of the Erchonia adjuster. There is no popping, cracking or twisting during the use of this treatment.
This tool provides a light tapping sensation to the joints and muscles to achieve a gentle effective adjustment.
